Pete Zenobi- Head Coach
Coach Pete is the head coach of the New Berlin Swim Club. He’s coached with the club for the past 12 years, starting as an age group coach in 1998. Coach Pete directs all age groups within the club and coaches the senior program. During his coaching years, he has developed swimmers to become State high school and State USA Swimming champions and Junior National, Senior National and Olympic Trial qualifiers. With over 20 years of competitive swimming experience, he is a graduate of UW-Stevens Point where he majored in physical education. Starting his swimming career at the age of 8, his favorite events were the 200 fly and the 400 IM. He was a state qualifier for South Milwaukee High School and continued swimming the 200 fly and the 400 IM in college, achieving the status of All American in the 400 IM in 1988. Coach Pete is a member of WISCA and USA Swimming. He enjoys working with athletes and seeing the happiness on swimmers’ faces when they succeed. Outside the pool, Coach Pete enjoys spending time with his family.
Nickie Tew - Coach
Coach Nickie has been with NBSC for over 19 years and has worked with all age groups during that time. During her career, Coach Nickie has coached State and Zone champions, Zone and Junior National qualifiers, State and club record holders and was elected multiple years by her coaching peers to be a Zone coach. Coach Nickie began swimming at the age of 5 with NBSC and swam for Eisenhower High School, where she set multiple school records and took second at State in the 100 fly her senior year, a school record that still stands today. She continued her competitive swimming career for four years at Northern Michigan University where she was an All American in multiple events and still holds the 100 fly record (56.23). She also helped her team take second place at NCAA Division II Nationals two of the four years she swam. As a coach, she loves coaching for a smaller team and is proud of the individual attention that can be given to swimmers as a result. She feels the most rewarding experience is seeing kids of all ages achieve things they never thought possible. Outside the pool, Coach Nickie enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, watching movies and walking the dog.
George Guddie - Head Age Group Coach
George’s love for swimming began with the Greenfield Otters, which later became South West Aquatic Team (SWAT). As a high school swimmer, George earned his Varsity letter as a freshman and was voted Most Valuable Swimmer his sophomore thru senior years in addition to being a team Captain as a senior. George finished his high school senior season as a 2-time All City Champion in the 200 IM and the 100 Breast Stroke. His coaching career started in college as head coach for the UPY Barracuda’s for 3 years in Michigan. In 1995 he moved back to Wisconsin and coached for more than 15 years for SWAT, where he originally began his swimming career in 1982 under program founder Dale Schrank. George has also been the Head Coach for Whitnall Girls and Boys Swimming and Diving teams since 2008. His experience and knowledge in swimming is passionately delivered to any age, and he enjoys working with all levels of swimmers. George has had the pleasure of coaching swimmers that have gone on to become State Champions. Other than coaching, George loves to spend time with his wife Rebecca and their four children, Tess, Grace, Benjamin and Elijah. He loves the outdoors, camping, hunting and gaming on the X-Box.
Tim Biro - Coach
Coach Tim joined the NBSC coaching staff once again at the start of the 2011 short course season after a six-year break from coaching with the club. He works with the silver and gold programs as well as some work with the seniors. With many years of competitive swimming experience, he is a graduate of UW-Stout where he majored in education. Coach Tim began his swimming career at the age of 10 with the South Milwaukee Swim Club. Later, he swam for South Milwaukee Senior High, where he still holds two individual records and two relay records. In college, he swam the 50 and 100 free and the 100 back. Naming the 50 free as his favorite event, he continues to hold the 50 free record (also an Olympic trial cut) at UW-Stout. Certified as a USA and WIAA coach and official, Coach Tim loves the sport of swimming. He enjoys seeing swimmers grow and continue to achieve their best times, something that they’ve never done before in their life. Outside the pool, Coach Tim enjoys scuba diving and spending time with his wife and daughter.
Russ Bellford - Senior Dry Land Coach
Coach Russ started coaching NBSC’s dry land program in 2007. He has years of experience coaching high school football, youth basketball and baseball and track and field. Not a swimmer, he played football, basketball, baseball and track at the youth and high school levels. Graduating from West Milwaukee High School in 1980, he continued his football career at the University of Wisconsin Madison where he played five seasons of football. Starting as a defensive back (safety) the last two years on the team, he helped the team achieve and advance to bowl games. Since his football days, he has focused on strength training and distance running, participating in 5Ks, 10Ks, half-marathons and two marathons. As a dry land coach, he’s interested in finding the most time effective manner in which dry land training can help the athletes improve their swimming performance and minimize their chance of injury. His program works to address core strength training with the use of TRX suspension systems, static stretching to increase range of motion and pushing swimmers with treadmill running. Outside the pool, Coach Russ works for AT&T studying telecommunications traffic, capacity and performance.He enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters and continues to be a runner, cross training with swim and more recently added cycling to his routine.
